I recently read an article on a local news site that made me angry. It essentially said that it's not safe to have grandparents take care of their grandchildren because their methods are not up-to-date! It suggested that kids are better off in a daycare environment where the staff is trained in the proper childcare techniques and emergency procedures. What an insulting story for all the grandparents who babysit their grandkids as well as those who are raising their grandchildren.
I am proud to say that I am my kids' mom, but there was a time when my husband and I had some very hard financial times and I temporarily had to go back to work. I was lucky enough to have parents who were close by who love my children with all their hearts. My parents helped us through a tough time and I was soon able to go back to being a stay-at-home mom. I think their role in my kids' lives has been essential and I cannot thank them enough for all that they have done for our family. Thank goodness for grandparents.
