Hi Dr. Laura,

I walked in on a conversation my wife was having with our 21-year-old son, in which she was listing some of the character traits she really admires in him.

I jumped into the conversation by saying, "You know, he gets that from me, right?"

She replied, "No, he gets it from me!"

Our son, who has a fairly dry wit, responded, "You know when 2 negatives multiply it does produce a positive."

My wife and I looked at each other and immediately burst out laughing. We got the point. Whether it's because of us or in spite of us, as he implied, he deserves full credit for the man he is becoming.
