I read "
The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" about six years ago. I was a good wife, I believed in the division of labor, and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. Once I read your book, I became a much more loving wife, and although he had always been "
fed", he was now getting gourmet food because your book helped me understand him better. Our good marriage became a great marriage. He appreciated me so much, always let me know how much he loved me, and felt he was the luckiest man in the world.
He died several months ago, and my one comfort is I was the absolutely best wife I could have been. While I took care of him during his illness, he often said when he was better, he would spend the rest of his life making it up to me for all I did for him. He bragged to all his friends he had the best wife in the world and how blessed he was. Husbands really do just want to be loved and appreciated, so wives do it while you have the chance. You won't regret it.
Dr. Laura, please continue to help women appreciate their husbands. I thank you for making my marriage better.
