Email of the Day: Be a Team Player In Your Marriage

Email of the Day: Be a Team Player In Your Marriage

My husband and I have been married for 47 years. Being a team to us has meant being on the same page and sharing goals and dreams together.

Raising our four children was the priority in the early years of our marriage. My husband worked his day job and taught a few nights a week. I stayed home with the kids and kept my RN license current, just in case. Listening to you helped me feel supported as a stay-at-home mom, and my hubby would even listen to you on his drive to work instead of sports!

Now that our children are all grown, they and our grandchildren are still a priority, but our goals and dreams are more focused on our marriage now. Applying your 4 A's – attention, affection, affirmation and appreciation -- have helped us to stay close, loving, and caring of one another throughout all of the years.

Thank you, Dr. Laura, for your "choose wisely and treat kindly" advice as well. It has worked for us!
