I started listening to you over 35 years ago when I was a newlywed and expecting our first daughter. I was ridiculously young. I married my boyfriend and worked full-time at a radio station before learning I was pregnant with the first of our two children. The radio station I worked at broadcast your program Monday through Friday, so I quickly became a fan.
I am so thankful for your encouragement! It gave me confidence in my belief that the most important job I would ever have was at home, raising my kids. It wasn't always easy, but I couldn't imagine bringing these two amazing little creatures into this world only to pay someone else to spend the bulk of their waking hours raising them for me.
Fast forward to this morning, my 32-year-old happily married daughter sent me this text after considering accepting a full-time nursing job:
“Good morning, Momma. Yesterday, I got a job offer. I had everything in place for the kids for daycare with my friend and Katie to go to school. I accepted the offer. But I slept on it, and you'll be proud to know that I woke up at 3 am asking myself WTF AM I DOING? I am absolutely NOT taking the job now. I would only have 1 hour a day to see Katie if I'm lucky. I would rather be flat broke than not have that precious time with my kids.”
Yeah. I cried because I was so proud that she decided to do as I did and to stay home with those sweet babies!
