Email of the Day: I'm Glad I Followed My Instincts

Email of the Day: I'm Glad I Followed My Instincts

My son is 18 and just graduated from high school with a 4.5 GPA and too many accolades to list. He is intelligent and athletic, and not that handsome. (ha!) The best part is that I stayed home with all my children until they were in school. My husband and I are teachers, so our schedules have always been the same as our children’s. We made it work until they were all in school.

I never sent my kids to preschool. Their first days of school were kindergarten. This particular son could have started school at 4 years old, turning 5 a few weeks later. We waited a year, so he started at 5 and turned 6 a few weeks later. We call it the gift of a year!

I've never, and I mean NEVER, nagged him about school because he was mature and ready.

Children do not need preschool; they need attentive and loving parents who will talk to and interact with them. I sat with so much pride on his graduation day! You can’t go back in time and change things, so it’s important to try to make the right decision in the moment.

I was so conflicted about "holding him back” because I knew he was smart. But I listened and trusted our choice. Now he is thriving! Thank you for supporting this message.
