Life Isn't Easy for Anyone
05/10/2016

Hi Dr. Laura:

I guess I should be one of those sad stories you hear all the time.  My mom had me when she was 15.  My dad gave up his parental rights because he was a loser.  I was raised by a bipolar grandmother and a drunk grandfather.

In three days, I will have been married for 20 years to a wonderful man who adores me and our daughter.  I had a good career until we decided I would stay home with our child.  Our daughter is creative and wise beyond her years.

I've always said I'm the type of person who learns from other people's mistakes (although I make plenty of my own too).  I started listening to you when I was 22 years old back in 1996.  Your advice has helped me make the tough decisions in my life, and yet also reminded me that I made the right ones.  Life isn't easy for anyone.  We have to use common sense, have gratitude, and teach others by our example.  Thank you for teaching me all of that!

With much gratitude,

Charity
