Hi Dr. Laura,
I'm sure you've heard this old song, "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)". When I read the SECOND verse, which I wasn't aware of, I thought of you talking about how young women don't put as much effort in choosing a mate as animals do. Not sure if this verse was added later, but it fits so well as Daisy's response to her suitor's first verse. - Gary
Here it is:
Daisy, Daisy Give me your answer do.
I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you.
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage.
But you'll look sweet,
Upon the seat,
Of a bicycle built for two.
Michael, Michael,
Here is your answer true.
I'll not cycle Over the world with you.
If you can't afford a carriage,
There won't be any marriage.
'Cause I'll be switched,
If I get hitched, On a bicycle built for two!
