Dear Dr. Laura:
My son always wanted to be a police officer. When he was 22, he graduated from the police academy. Five months later, he was killed.
I was able to see him at the hospital before he died. Although my heart was being torn from my chest, I held his hand and told him how much I loved him and how proud of him I was. But I also told him God loved him even more and it was okay to let go. Over 2,000 people showed up for his funeral. He touched more lives in his 23 years than he could have ever known. I pray I will never have to go through something like that again, but I am grateful God chose me to be his mom for the time he was here. I am also grateful I raised him, not some day care.
Thank you for all you do, Dr. Laura. Our children are just on loan and we should know how honored we are to be able to care for them and love them. They could be gone tomorrow.
