Trading Lives
04/08/2020

I've been married for 36 years.  Like everyone else, I am sheltering in place, so I'm cleaning out old closets and drawers.  I came across a poem I wrote in 1997, when I quit my dream job to stay at home with my kids.  It's a decision I've never regretted.  As I re-read the poem, I thought it was still relevant for today, so I wanted to share it with you.  Thank you.

For my daughter:

I used to drop you off at daycare - to lead another Life.

One with circle times, crafts and snacks.

I used to drop you off at daycare - to lead another Life

One with business meetings, memos and power lunches.

Now I drop you in my lap at home - leading the same Life.

One with children's stories, smiles and picnics in the park.
