Dr. Laura:
I spoke with you on the air nine years ago, and you helped me see that I can't change others - I can only change myself. I read your book "
In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms" last year, and it supported my innermost feelings about being a mom to my children, who are 2, 4 and 6 years old. We, stay-at-home moms, need a strong voice of support like yours in today's society where we are undervalued and often even unseen.
I'm now reading "
The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" AND "
The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage!" The other day, one of my friends saw those books on a table, and she was appalled. I let her know that I wasn't ashamed of reading them and that I wanted to be the best wife I could possibly be. That sounded too "traditional" to her, but I think of it as modern - who wouldn't want to be in a happy marriage?? I also regularly listen to your podcasts and apply the "golden nuggets" I hear to my daily life and interaction with others.
Thank you for your wisdom, discernment, empathy and care for all of us who listen.
