Only One of My Children Was Invited!
10/08/2013

Hi, I'm Dr. Laura Schlessinger.  Welcome to our YouTube channel.  And here's a letter from Carrie:

"I am a stay-at-home mom [that gets points] of three daughters [your poor husband]-- eight, six and 3. I have been involved in a play group that consists of five families. We often share holidays, adult and child birthdays and short weekend trips. From the beginning when we had sleepovers, I told all the moms that they did not have to feel obligated to invite my 3 year old, as she was too young to be included.  [So far so good!]

There is one woman in the group with two kids.  Her oldest daughter is turning nine and is having a 'water games day and scavenger hunt' at her house. My oldest daughter is invited to the party [that's the eight year old] but the 6 year old middle daughter is not.  [Don't tell me you're going to complain about this...oh, you were doing so well.]

When I got the invitation to the party and saw that it was addressed to my oldest daughter, I asked if the middle one was invited and she said, 'No, none of the siblings have been invited.  It is going to be a small pool party for big girls.'

I was shocked [why?!] to see this because my middle daughter was always included in past invitations.   How should I handle this?"

Don't act like an idiot and embarrass me after I gave you so many good points for being a stay-at-home mom, for being understanding about the 3-year-old, for really helping with all of the families and the kids and the friendships and now you blew it by getting on a high horse and saying that a 6-year-old should be invited to a 9-year-old's party.  How should you handle this?!  [Makes motion to slap own face.]  Smack yourself!  And say, "Whoops!  I lost it for a moment.  Of course the 9-year-olds play together and the 6-year-old isn't invited.  I don't know what I was thinking of."

I'm Dr. Laura Schlessinger.  Until next time on our YouTube channel, go do the right thing - please, I'm begging you!  [Huffs and puffs, shakes head and closes eyes.]
